Christiana Care Health System, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, is a not-for-profit major teaching hospital and one of the country's largest health care providers, ranking 17th in the nation for hospital admissions. Recognized as a regional center for excellence in cardiology, cancer and women's health services, Christiana Care has two campuses, Wilmington and Newark, and operates more than 1,100 patient beds.  Christiana Hospital, a 913-bed, 1.3-million-square-foot, modern facility in Newark, includes the only Level I trauma center on the East Coast corridor between Baltimore and Philadelphia. Christiana Hospital also has the distinction of being the only delivering hospital in Delaware with a Level 3 neonatal intensive-care unit.  Christiana Care received Magnet designation in 2010. The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center serves a majority of the cancer patients residing in Delaware and was recently selected to receive a $2.8 million grant from the NCI to expand its community outreach programs. The Center for Heart & Vascular Health is the only center in the region that integrates cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, vascular interventional radiology, cardiology and interventional nephrology in one location. Christiana Care’s cardiovascular surgeons perform more than 650 open-heart procedures each year treating more than 8,000 total heart and vascular cases annually.

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a clinically driven, visible and experienced, team-oriented surgical services leader to assume the role of Director of Clinical Operations, Perioperative Services.  The Director will oversee the operations of Perioperative Services-Christiana Campus and assume responsibility for efficient, effective, and safe care with a strong focus on quality, outcomes, and patient and medical staff satisfaction. In addition, the Director of Clinical Operations will manage the fiscal and budgetary demands placed on the service by addressing staffing, workforce planning, procedure location, patient flow, and patient access.

These responsibilities include oversight of the 26 suite Christiana Operating Room, 40-bed PACU/Prep area, 36 room Short Procedure Unit, and 7 OR suite Surgery Center that also incorporates 13 procedure rooms. This individual will report to the Vice President, Perioperative Services and work with three direct reports with oversight responsibility for 315 FTEs.

Requirements include:  A registered nurse eligible for licensure in the State of Delaware. A master’s degree is required with either a baccalaureate degree or a master’s degree in nursing. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in perioperative nursing in a clinical setting required. Demonstrated success in partnering and communicating with physicians and other departments to achieve optimal program results essential. Well developed analytical/problem-solving skills necessary to develop and administer innovative clinical programs required as well as a proven record in financial acumen, including establishing and maintaining budgets.
