Magee is designed with state-of-the-art technology for diagnosis/treatment. Nearly 10,000 babies are born at Magee each year. The NICU, the largest in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the U.S., treats more than 1,500 seriously or critically ill babies annually. Magee has 360 licensed beds with a Birth Center, 22 LDRs, 3 ORs/PACUs, 15 triage rooms and dedicated 6-bed ICU. Magee has 83 Postpartum/Antepartum beds; a new 28-bed Women’s Health Unit.
The Director will have overall responsibility for coordinating all clinical activities for Womens Obstetrics/ Newborn Program, continually evaluating, developing/ implementing programs and processes to maintain excellence. The Director will have responsibility for 274 FTEs, 5 Unit Directors, and operating budget of $58.2M.
The Director will provide system-level support to hospitals within UPMC system to ensure consistent standard programming and enhanced OB/Newborn care; participate in activities to promote community outreach, professional/ consumer education, program marketing, and fundraising. The Director will represent UPMC at the national level in organizations related to high volume OB Services, i.e., as Council of Womens and Infants' Specialty Hospitals (CWISH).
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor's and Master's degree (one of which is in Nursing) is required.
§ 5-7 years of professional experience in healthcare leadership; minimum of 3 years in similar role in an academic environment or complex hospital setting.
§ Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate and manage innovative programs and clinical initiatives to promote excellence in Obstetrics and Newborn Services.
§ Experience in fostering a strong professional nursing practice culture and promoting patient/family focused environment.
§ Strategic, operational, business development and system thinking skills and expertise.
§ Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with diverse constituents, as well as to provide comfort to patients and their families.
§ Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
